Steel spine 54: Preparation

I know you’ve not been keen on the idea, but we need to know what’s going on, and the only way we’ve been able to come up with so far is to hear them talking up there. And I mean more than just tone of voice. We have to know before…

I know, before we do something we might otherwise regret. We both well remembered the remaking, and even though this was going to be nothing on that scale it still wouldn’t be pleasant. If it all works out we should be able to hear them talking, even through the barrier. We’ll have to act fast though. I know, I know.

And whatever we find out, I thought, we’re going to make them realise that they can’t keep on with this. I wasn’t sure we were ready for it, but both of us were certain that we didn’t have any more time. It shouldn’t take them long to realise the depth of their mistake. We smiled slightly, then curled up and waited for the pain.
