Steel spine 30: Revalations Colin had dropped off the mirror and left in quite a hurry, I was at a lost to say why but I was pretty sure it had something to do with me. Perhaps he was worried about being around me when I'd not eaten. If that was the case then I couldn't really blame him.

Regardless of that, I now know that you are capable of standing up for us. It's reassuring to know you're not going to let him walk all over us again. You know I'm almost proud of you, the way you manipulated him was clever, you're more cunning than I'd originally given you credit for.

Steel spine 29: Guilt Colin's head was on his desk and it had been there for the last half hour. He hadn't been sleeping, rather trying to ignore the noises coming from the basement. He felt terrible, he knew that he should have gone down there to check on Chris earlier, but then he'd started screaming again, and as hard as he tried Colin couldn't quite persuade himself to go down there.

As a panicked search for the missing alien has begun turning the Nation upside down, one group of conspiracy theorists have come forward to claim responsibility for the crashed ship, calling it a 'publicity stunt'. The Simurgh is a mythical Persian bird that was said to be so old it has seen the world destroyed three times. Its name means thirty birds and was said to have thirty diferent colours in its feathers.
In the original myth the Simurgh looked after Zal, who had been abandoned at birth because of his white hair, until his father, the king, realised his mistake and went looking for him.
